Book 1: True Calling:Ariana Skyee is a pretty happy girl, Planet Novo has everything that was promised to her and it's a her new home in Space. And she couldn't be happier, well that is under the authorities decided to introduce "The Calling" as their way to repopulation. Now, all seventeen-year-olds are to participate in this Bachelor-style pageant and find their match, marry and have children.
But Ariana's worries don't just end there, when everyone came to Novo, the government made everyone go through a memory erase section, but something must have gone somewhat wrong with hers, because she keeps having these live dreams of this mystery boy. He haunts her dreams, but is it just dreams? Things just seems to be more than they are.
And then the pageant starts, and her feelings for Cadent Cal Remus intensifies, soon they start to realize that not everything about their new home is as it seems. Ariana sets out to find out the truth, but who can she trust, Cal isn't trustworthy or at least he doesn't seem just yet. Ariana feels at lost for sure, but her search for the truth comes at a high personal price, one that she never saw it coming and with devastating consequences.
This book, I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it as much as I did, but guess what? I enjoyed it and once I was finished with this free copy that I received from the author herself through GoodReads, I went to Amazon and bought the second ebook and started reading right away, because I needed to know what was going to happen. The ending was a cliff hanging, so expect that my friends.
I gave this book a 4 out of starts, the writing was very simple to read and follow along. I wish there was a little more world building, especially in Novo, this space planet that they create, but none the least I enjoyed the characters and the story line. The main character was someone that you had a love and hate relationship with, in my opinion. Cal, was really friendly and someone that everyone would fall in love with. I cannot wait to get to know more about the mystery boy Zane.
2nd Book Beyond Reach:
Ariana is on Earth and is caught in a dangerous crossfire between Clementia and the government. Who is Clementia? Clementia is the clandestine rebel organization that is trying to take down the government.
Ariana refuses to divulge the location of the secret information that her father trusted her with, and she is desperately trying to bargain for her Mom, Lily and even Cal's rescue from the Novo Planet. She knows that it may be a losing battle and that her clock is ticking but she will do anything to get them to Earth.
The worst is when she is presented with evidence of her fiance Cal's apparent betrayal, but she still defends him despite her concerns. And things are getting more complicated as she is growing more closer to her ex-boyfriend Zane, aka her mystery dream boy.
When more shocking revelations rocks her world, Ariana has to decide which path to take, but whatever path she takes it not only decides her destiny but the fate of humanity. Yeah, and you thought you were having a bad day? Well, I am lol, but nothing compared with this girl right here, okay let's get back to the review...
At the end of the book we get another cliff hanger as Ariana is confronted with a memory that makes her come across a truth that she would do anything to forget about it, but somethings just can't be undone.
This book? It was so much better than the first one and sometimes I wish it had ended with this one; well besides the end, of course. It was good!!! I loved Zane, the more I saw of him the more I liked him and the more I wanted to see him and get to meet him. Ariana, she aggravated me on this book, she can't decide between Cal or Zane and in one way I got her but in the other way? Come on...okay moving on. Cal, he is sweet and I could see his point of view and it's not his fault what is going on; so he is forgiven...for now.
I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars I really, really enjoyed reading it and did I tell you that I read this book in one sitting, yeah it was that good. The world building was fantastic, Earth was described really well, the characters were described so well; the writing was great in this book. Totally recommend it. Once I was finished with this book I was ready to read the last book.
3rd Book: Destiny Rising:
Lots of decisions are to be made in this book; for the humanity and Ariana too has to make so decisions too.
Saoirse organization is preparing nonstop to battle the government and take over Earth and Novo too. Ariana, her father and those who she loves most are joined on this battle for their freedom and justice. But that is not the only thing happening on Ariana's life, old memories are resurfacing, old discoveries and new realities and making her whole world fall apart forever and she needs to decide what is best for her and her family. Her father makes a decision and sends her away to Greece for a while on the pretest that she has to concentrate on her psychic gift to evolve and fully extent it to help the battle that they are all in. While she is away she manages to connect with her psychic gift with the help of someone who has the same powerful gift and it evolves to the max, but she also makes some major personal decisions that will either destroy her childhood boyfriend Zane or her fiancée Cal's heart, but it's a decision that she is ready to make.
When she comes back and battle is fully on, fate takes another turn and Ariana is face with another major decision, one that will have to involve making a deal with the enemy. She then faces the worst choice of making the ultimate personal sacrifice or risk everything she holds dear. What will she do? Well, you just have to read to find out. Will Saoirse and Ariana will this battle against the government? What will the future look like? Who did Ariana choose; Zane or Cal?
These are questions that you will have answers too, some you will like others you will not, but you will get them. I wasn't happy with one of the choices Ariana made, but overall the book was really good. I really liked how everything wrapped up nicely and how you get to see much more into the future that you get from other books.
I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars, I probably would have give 5 if she had made another choice but that's just my personal option, and that's what reviews are for, right? And everyone has different options and I'm sure some people probably liked her decision. Do I recommend this trilogy, absolutely!!!

The True Calling Series Boxset Books 1 2 + Novella + Short Story eBook Siobhan Davis Kelly Hartigan Xterra Web Reviews
*I received a digital copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.*
TRUE CALLING- It’s so difficult to resist yourself when the cover is so gorgeous and the blurb is so intriguing. So, generally I signed up for up for it and I was really impressed with the book. I didn’t fall in love with it but I liked it.
The plot is quite interesting. This book takes place on Planet Novo, which is a man-made planet to protect people from the dangers currently going on Earth. But not everybody gets access to it, there are a bunch of tests that one has to pass and also they have to be in the best heath condition, only then they are allowed to reside in Planet Novo. This system sort of separated the stronger from the weak.
The story is about a girl called Ariana Skyee who is a cadet in Planet Novo and who is one of the best choices for the Earth to survive. There is a different kind of life there, everything at first glance seems great but deeply this is all the work of government who is controlling the people with chips and techno things. Also, the concept of “The Calling” was pretty intriguing. Everybody from a certain age has to attain this ceremony where they will be matched for marriage to ensure the a healthy population growth keeps growing in Novo.
As much as I liked the plot, I had a hard time connecting with the characters, specially Ariana. Although I didn’t exactly hate her but she was pretty irritating at times. She was quite unsure about her feelings for Cal, who is another cadet there. One moment she says she hates him, then the next moment he’s making her feel all weak inside. Their connection was pretty instant. I actually don’t hate insta-love that much but I didn’t like it here. Because I think I was rooting for Zane all along. He’s the mysterious guy that Ariana sees in her dreams and later she is able to silently communicate with him as well.
I liked Zane, a lot. I also felt so bad for him, he is Ariana’s childhood sweetheart but Ariana doesn’t remember anything about him because everybody who lives in Novo, their previous memories have been erased. They don’t remember anything connected to earth and Zane is still on earth, he didn’t gain access because of his heart condition. He longs for the day to be able to get her back. This ends up with Ariana caught up in a love triangle and she slowly discovers a lot of other complicated thing things that puts her life at risk.
The writing was smooth and I could easily finish this book in a few days. But I felt there was more telling than showing. Overall, the plot was great, the characters were somewhat okay, it was fast paced. I loved the mysterious aspect of the book, I wanted to know what was going to happen next and that kept me running!
BEYOND REACH- I loved this book! Something always felt missing in the first book but that gap was fulfilled here. There was a massive amount of improvement in this book from every corner. But oh! that cliffhanger at the end, it will kill me!
The plot was intersting as usual. This book starts when they are already on earth after Zane’s rescue mission to Novo. But they couldn’t bring back Cal, Ariana’s mom and sister with them. After see a video of Cal with the President, Ari begins to question her trust although she vehemently defies everything said against him but the seed of doubt is planted in her mind. As a result she begins to grow close to Zane which results in a lot of conflicting emtions.
I liked Ariana’s character better in this book. She seemed a bit more mature. I desperately wanted her to choose Zane but she stayed loyal towards Cal. I really loved Zane’s POV in this book. So many things are explained in details here. But at a point it was frustrating, I wanted Zane to move on from Ari. According to me, I think Isla would have been actually a great choice for him because she genuinely cares and loves him. Her outbursts towards Ari was quite natural as well because she didn’t want to loose the one person she considered her friend and family. And Cal, although goes through a temporary phase of amnesia, he doesn’t stop loving Ari. It was sweet but I just didn’t like them together, but that’s just my opinion.
Lots of twists and turns are introduced in this book which was pretty awsome. But there are so many questions that I need answers to, I know they are finally going to be delivered in the final and the third book but it’s hard to keep on waiting. It was getting really interesting. Also, we get to know more about Clementia, the underground organization that’s fighting against the unfairness caused by the government of Planet Novo. But that’s not actually the truth and when the twist was revealed, I was pretty surprised and shocked. I definitely didn’t guess that.
I enjoyed the writing in this book. It felt that the author was now more comfortable with her characters. The showing and the telling seemed pretty balanced in this book.
Overall, I enjoyed this book pretty much. There was a lot of character development, the plot was brilliantly handled and the pace was fast paced. It kept me on the edge from the beginning. Seriously the cliffhanger at the end will be the death of me. I can’t wait to read the conclusion of this trilogy!
LIGHT OF A THOUSAND STARS- I love Zane. I am team Zane from book 1 and the author seemed to have noticed that as well. So when I signed up for the blog tour of book 3 Destiny Rising, she graciously provided me this book as well as she knew I love Zane. And I can’t thank her enough for this. I loved this book so much and it crushed me to see Zane crumple down when Ariana was taken to planet Novo and Zane was not allowed due to his heart condition. *sniffs*
This book is told from Zane’s point of view. It is actually set before everything happens. It tells us about the life of Zane and Ari before she went to planet Novo and she had to go through the mandatory memory erase which made her forget her life in earth and about Zane. This book focused on their relationship, how they fell in love and were pretty much inseparable and what they meant for each other.
The plot was simple and sweet. Here we see the simple days of everyone’s life before everything crumpled down. We are introduced to the key factor that actually unleashed all the major events in the book, the mystery is finally unveiled in book 3 but I could understand that it was going to be something major and it was pretty hard to wait because I was dying to know about it. The mystery was well maintained. We also get to see the beginning of the psychic connection that Zane and Ari seem to develop.
I am going to say this once again, I love Zane. He’s the perfect boyfriend material. He’s sweet, understanding, caring, supportive, he’s everything a girl could ask for. He was always there for her whenever she needed him. I actually loved Ariana more in this book, she seemed less irritating, more bubbly, mature and sweet. Their relationship was really adorable, it was crystal clear they loved each other very much and couldn’t stay away. It was really heart breaking to see how everything was taken away from Zane in a glimpse. I liked the writing. It was descriptive and smooth. This novella was short and easy to read and I breezed through it. The pace was even throughout the book.
Overall, the plot was good, I loved the characters, the writing was smooth and the pace was even. I really loved everything in this book.
Recommend this series?
